Filth Teaser Trailer NSFW

This wasn’t on my radar at all, but it is now. James McAvoy as a Bad Lieutenant type cop, sign me up. From browsing the comments from different places, apparently the book it is based on features a talking tape worm. Not sure if this movie will get that crazy, but it looks interesting regardless. Oh, and did I mention this trailer is not safe for work?

James Wan in talks to direct Final Furious

Image-5-James-Wan

There had previously been talk that either Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer), or Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) would helm the seventh Fast and Furious movie (which I will only be referring to as Final Furious), but it looks like James Wan is now the front runner. I wasn’t interested in any of the previous directors, so I would be more than ok with James Wan. Wan has a great track record with horror and his revenge movie Death Sentence is well regarded, so I’d be interested to see what he could do with an action movie. Let’s not forget that Justin Lin wasn’t an action guy before he got into the Fast and Furious business either. James Wan is definitely the most interesting choice so far.

Fake Movie Friday: Philip Gets Better

Don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… don’t turn this into Bioshock: Infinite… This is going to be very short, because if I think too much or take too long, it will become Bioshock: Infinite. Colm’s title suggestion this week:

Philip Gets Better

Philip has been in a mental institution for a long time. He’s been claiming aliens have been contacting him , they can read his thoughts and know exactly what he’s doing. He also claims that he can hear what they’re doing as well and has been trying to warn everyone about an invasion.

We show scenes of Philip before being in an institution and he would be standing on the street with signs of warning letting everyone know what’s being shared with him. No one believes him obviously and soon he resorts to vandalism and even more serious crimes like arson to try and get everyone’s attention. This is what ultimately puts him in the institution. He claims to know the date, which is supposed to happen during the trial, but nothing happens on that day. He says the aliens know he told and are planning a later date now.

Even in the institution he is still holding fast to his beliefs, and even while heavily medicated he is still spouting the same stuff. He’s even warning about a new date, a date which this time the aliens actually arrive on and wage a war.

Philip is let out and asked to help with the war. He is brought up to speed on the worlds plan. Of course the aliens can hear and see all of this and everything is thwarted. Humanity falls, most are taken as prisoner, and only a few survive in bunkers and this new alien race takes over.

Philip has been captured by the aliens and is brought to the ruler. He asks why he was brought there and the ruler says something like “you don’t remember?” The ruler rips off Philips skin and reveals him to be a alien as well, some high ranking general. He is horrified and the ruler says something like, “we left you here too long brother, you are beginning to act and GASP think like them.” Philip says “maybe I have” and proceeds to punch through the head of the ruler, steals his side arm and primary weapon and takes down all of the forces around him. He lets the captive humans out that are there and then they all take up arms and start the war to take back earth… I guess.

The end?

Phew, it was only a little bioshocky. It originally was far closer

Peter Dinklage will be in Days of Future Past

peter-dinklage-wolverine-435x580

Shortly after the announcement that Days of Future Past will be shot natively in 3D, word has it that Peter Dinklage has been cast in the new X-Men movie. Everyone’s first guess is Puck (well, I didn’t guess Puck, I have to admit I’d never heard of him), but Devin has some interesting theories about who he could be playing. I don’t totally buy it, but it would be great if Dinklage was playing a motion captured CG character. Whatever the case, Days of Future Past is getting more interesting by the minute…

Dunn’s Top 20 Movies of 2012

The_Master_Paul_Thomas_Anderson-70

It was a great year for movies. I didn’t have a problem finding 20 movies that I loved this year, and there was a bunch of flicks that were great the didn’t quite make my list (i.e. Dredd). I waited so long to make the list because I wanted to see as many movies as I could, but I still couldn’t see everything (I’m most bummed about missing Wreck It Ralph). But out of what I was able to see, here are 20 of my favorites:

20. The Comedy
19. The Raid
18. Seven Psychopaths
17. Killer Joe
16. Searching for Sugarman
15. Paul Williams Is Still Alive
14. Lincoln
13. Looper
12. Cloud Atlas
11. Silver Linings Playbook

Fake Movie Friday Submissions: The Littlest Werewolf

Hurray! Lisa LoFaso has submitted her first Fake Movie Friday! Thanks Lisa! Keep ’em coming:
So I gave this premise to Tigs around Halloween but he said I had to write it and I never finished it. So now, here is my first attempt at a Fake Movie Friday. Hopefully it doesn’t suck too bad.
The Littlest Werewolf

The “Fast” Franchise and Alphabetical Hell

So we all know the Super Bowl was yesterday and it was a great game, but what was even greater was the Fast and Furious commercial that showed the vehicular mayhem that is going to be unleashed this Memorial Day.  I can’t wait for it.

I only had one tiny issue with the spot:  Why call it Fast and Furious 6?  You’ve created an illogical mess of titling these films over the years, so why go so basic now?  I never thought a franchise could mess names up more than Rambo:

1. First Blood

2. Rambo: First Blood Part 2

3. Rambo III

4. Rambo

The Fast franchise looked at Rambo and decided to get even stupider.  Lets look back at these titles and laugh for a minute:

1. The Fast and The Furious – nothing wrong with this one.  It’s a great title and lets you know what you’ll be in for.

2. 2 Fast 2 Furious – THE GREATEST TITLE IN HISTORY.  It lets you know this is going to be double the stupidity, and double the other stuff you’d like doubled, but it now comes before the first film if you like alphabetizing.

3. The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift – this is a spinoff sidequel, so I really don’t have an issue with this title, but it’ll get hairy later on.  This is technically the last film in the Fast chronology.

4. Fast and Furious – All they did was drop THE from the titles and thats ok!?!? They didn’t even call it Fast and FOURious.  Just dropped a few the’s and called it a day.

5. Fast Five – This title is perfect, cause it’s simple. It’s the 5th Fast movie, so it’s Fast Five.

Up to this point however, I don’t think any of the titles would even be consecutive in a DVD rack.  Now we’re getting

6. Fast and Furious 6 – which yes, I get that it’s the 6th Fast film, but theres only one film up to this point called Fast and Furious, and it’s the 4th film.  So this should technically be Fast and Furious 2

Or you call it Fast 6 cause it’s the 6th Fast movie.  Because it’s definitely not Fast and Furious 6.  Also yes there are 6 Fast movies, but if you take chronological order into account, this would be the 5th film, because Tokyo Drift is the last one.  Or just call it Furiou6

Anyway you slice it, I feel like JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof have something to do with the titles of these films.  I do hope however that the 7th and final film is titled Furious.  Just Furious. No one would see that coming.

I’ll be the midnight screening of Fast and Furious 6 no matter what.
