BEFORE MIDNIGHT!

So it was only a rumor just 2 months ago which we talked about HERE. Ethan Hawke barely mentioned the possibility of a third installment, but now Linklater has announced that a third film will happen.

Did I say happen? I meant the third installment ‘Before Midnight’ is DONE. It’s been filmed and will premiere THIS WEEK at the Toronto Film Festival.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK.

FAKE MOVIE FRIDAY: Helios

Though it was beautiful, in the end ‘Prometheus’ turned out to be an unnecessary prequel. It did little to explain what it was meant to. It just as well could have been another film. I’m going to do the same thing for Fake Movie Friday today. Here’s my prequel to ‘Pitch Black.’

Helios

We open on a small colony of Terra-formers on the planet from ‘Pitch Black.’ A few men are spilling out of a bar fighting. A single gunshot is heard and they turn to find our main character Davis, played by Zoe Saldana. The men stop fighting and are clearly a bit scared of her. She’s chief of security and a total hard-ass. Davis is her last name so you know she’s tough as NAILS!

News to Fall in Love With

Ethan Hawke confirmed in a recent interview that he, Julie Delpy, and Richard Linklater will be filming a third film in the “Before Sun-” series this summer. For any fans of the films this has to be the best news you’ve gotten all week.

A Box of Home Movies in the Attic is Never a Good Sign

Sinister is the new horror film from director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still) starring Ethan Hawke (Gattaca, White Fang) as an author who moves his family into a new house, a house with a tortured up past. I’ve been hearing quite a bit of positive feedback about this movie from those lucky enough to have caught it at SXSW and have been anxiously awaiting the trailer. Finally, the wait is over thanks to Arrow in the Head. I won’t lie, I was not enthralled by this trailer. Too much of it seemed cheesy (“I’m gonna write the best book that anyone’s ever read”), and it does that horror movies trailer thing where every time a certain noise plays they will cut to black, like in the Texas Chainsaw reboot and the camera sound, and it seemed like every other haunted house horror movie type.

Then at 2:16 into the trailer I was convinced I need to see it. Continue reading
