Fake Movie Friday Vol. 2: Magic in the Clouds

I missed last week, but I decided to make my triumphant return with a title from Peter. This one isn’t very funny, like most of mine… I imagine it as a tear jerker anime, like the movie that shall not be named. Also, this FMF is far too long to read. Enjoy!

Magic in the Clouds

Joshua is a 12 year old boy living in the small town of Summerville with his mother, Anna, and grandparents. Winter comes, but never stays very long and Joshua wants to go ice skating at a small lake near their house. His mother and grandparents aren’t too keen on the idea but Joshua convinces them. After a very lovely ice skating session the ice beneath him starts to crack and as he is skating falls through the ice. Anna rushes over and dives into the lake, unlaces Joshua’s skates and pushes him up through the ice. The grandparents pull them out and rush them back to their house near a fire.

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: Midnight Crew

Boom. Two weeks in a row of remembering to do this in a timely manner. I texted Tigs some titles, but haven’t heard back so I’m going back a couple of weeks to when he gave me this one.

Midnight Crew

We open on a group of 4 teens hanging out on a dark cliff. They laugh together and cheer their drinks. They all look at their matching watches and start to countdown from 10. When they hit zero, they turn and run off shouting “Midnight Crew.” They hit the water below, pop up and yell triumphantly.

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: The Great Diaper Rash

Ugh. 2 weeks in a row that I am posting the movie early Saturday morning. I think we can all agree to count this as late Friday night instead. Title from an audience member at Pig Pile!

The Great Diaper Rash

We open on Taylor. She’s working the kitchen of a fancy restaurant and is propositioned by a coworker to get in on a side catering job. She turns it down saying she needs to be there for her son. Not looking she burns her arm on the fryer.

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: This House Needs Paint

After taking last week off for Colm’s wedding festivities (congratulations Lisa and Colm!) I’m back in it, full force, for the time being! Pete and I got title suggestions at our show last night, which leads us into my FMF this week:

This House Needs Paint

This movie is shot entirely on a go-pro or some other handheld type camera is a found footage type of thing. Doug and Jen are newly married and have been looking for a house. The real estate agent, Kim, takes them around to tons of houses for days on end. After many failed attempts, mostly because of budget restraints and other bidders coming in at the last minute it seems like Doug and Jen are out of luck until they are driving with Kim and she says “Well there is one other house that’s in you price range…” Continue reading

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: Yesterday’s Heroes

Ladies and Gentlemen, I can finally say this after 2 long years of not writing these, and 2 long weeks of writing them:

This week’s title was suggested by Tigs.

It just feels right. This movie is based on the pattern of if we have enough young people movies an old person version will come next (Space Cowboys, Last Vegas, Dirty Grandpa).

Yesterday’s Heroes

We open in a bar. A bunch of flashy youths are doing shots and all sorts of shenanigans. There’s a hotly contested arm wrestling match, really good dart games, and crazy pinball scores with people hardly even looking. Everything seems too good. A women yells, louder than normal, and everyone turns to the TV. A news story recounts an attack in some city and the bar clears out real fast. The news story changes as now a seemingly similar group of young heroes fight the threat. We pan around to the old bartender Dale, played by Robert Redford (78), looking gruff and annoyed. He sighs and starts to clean. Continue reading

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: Original Sister

Volume 2 keeps on rolling! Did I think we’d make it to week 3 in volume 2? Nope, but here we are letting the creative juices flow, as some would say. Got this title from Pete this morning, and I gotta say I’m not sure if I’m on a clone kick of if he is, or maybe we are both in the same clone mindset. Either way, my self proclaimed, lightly connected by theme only, Clone Saga continues. I’m thinking about calling it the Clone Wars, no one’s used that before.  Now, without further Apu (smirk) I give you:

Original Sister

Patricia Hieland is an architect, married with two kids, an avid soul cycle goer, living in the city of Spitzer Ridge Connecticut. She’s been living there her whole life and as such has known many people who’ve come and gone, but she’s always stayed. When she’s not at home, work or soul cycle, she’s with her sister Beth, who has cancer and has been in and out of hospitals for the better part of her adult life. For the past few months Beth has been confined to her hospital bed with what looks like no hope of ever leaving. The doctors have been doing all they can but the disease has spread and can no longer be contained no matter what they do. Patricia stays long hours at the hospital, sometimes staying all night with her sister to have as much time as she can.

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: Almost Like Me

I was sitting here binge watching the new Gilmore Girls when Pete texted me that he forgot to write a FMF today and wrote one at a bar, and there’s no way I’m letting him get one up on me this early into Vol 2. A few great title suggestions from Pete later and we have:

Almost Like Me

Scientist Spencer Bachman has been working with the department of defense for years, and they have started to get fed up with him. He’s been working on a cloning technology for years but there has always been something wrong with his creations. They’ve been unable to control them and they all eventually end up going crazy within the first few minutes of being created. Spencer has another meeting to show off what he has come up with. A shadowy council watches on as the newest clone comes out of it’s chamber. Spencer sits in a room with him and begins asking questions.

Fake Movie Friday Vol 2: Barfight

Sitting at a bar and thought what Russ was talking about sounded like a great FMF. That’s when I realized what day it was.

Barfight

We open in a bar where the music has stopped and everyone gasps. The camera pans around to find a man behind dragged away as we then go close in on another man knocked out on the ground. Two men looking shocked go to pick him up.
