Big important people at Disney have announced that Joss Whedon is coming back. He will be writing and directing the next Avengers film (which will probably have a subtitle taking cues from the non-Iron Man phase 2 films).
This is of course fantastic news. It shows the continuing effort of Disney and Marvel to do these films right and give fans exactly what they want. Much of the critical success of the first film can be attributed to Whedon’s script doing a wonderful job melding the group together.
Whedon as well will be helping out with the Marvel TV show. Not much is known about the show besides it being set in the same movie universe. Chances are it will be a rotating cast of different characters. Whedon knows how to make good television and make even the shortest lived characters jump out and stick with people.
Right now we are waiting for his version of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, shot in his house with a group of his friends. Premiering ate the Toronto Film Festival it stars, Alexis Denisof, Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion, Thomas Lenk and more Whedonverse alumni.
