Viggo Mortensen Strange Phd

Super thin rumors to share with you today. Viggo Mortensen may be joining the Marvel movie universe as Doctor Strange.

I really hope they start fleshing out the universe in phase two. There is no reason why characters can’t pop up in small roles. The Falcon will be in Captain America. They should really introduce Hank Pym somewhere, mostly as a scientist and less as Ant-Man (They are doing Scott Lang Ant-Man for the film).

Viggo can make the character work with it’s over the top magic-ness. This will be a huge test for Marvel to show their werider characters can work on film.

Quartet Means Four!

It’s amazing how with a good script and talented actors a film about a string quartet can look more interesting than 90% of films released this year.

I’m interested and hope for MANY music puns.

Fake Movie Friday: Broken Glass

Wow today was busy at work, but here I am on the train home and it’s time for another Fake Movie Friday! This weeks title was suggested to me by Lisa last night at the Manhattan College Alumni Happy Two Hours. I decided this needs to be a weird experimental sort of film, mostly scenes with very little connecting it all…or is there??

Fake Movie Friday – Time: The Albert Washington Story

I got nothing this week, so I figure I might as well tell the true story of how a black man in old timey Chicago created the first ever clock.

This film is directed byLee Daniels and it is super inspiring.  (for this movie to work, you just have to be ok with ZERO timepieces existing before the 1920’s, so get onboard)

Fake Movie Friday: Permanent Press

I’m in Massachusetts at my Dad’s visiting because my sister is around. I’ve been thinking of a premise since last night and nothing was coming. I just had a let a dryer repairman in so let’s run with that and make it cursed or something.

Permanent Press

A child plays around with cars on in a basement. He keeps hearing noises and looks scared. LOUD NOISE JUMP SCARE! It’s just a cat, lol jk. His mom calls him upstairs and he runs up.

The World’s End Grows

It was the summer before sophomore year of college when I first saw the trailer for ‘Shaun of the Dead.’ I will selfishly take full credit in being the person to spread the news to my group of friends. We saw it opening weekend and NYC and couldn’t have been happier. We were Wright, Pegg, and Frost hooked. We tracked down the two series of ‘Spaced’ and even the short lived ‘Asylum.’ We were beyond excited for ‘Hot Fuzz’ and now impatiently waiting for news on their upcoming film ‘The World’s End.’ We have some news and the news is great.

Triple Bonded

Daniel Craig has signed on for two more Bond films after ‘Skyfall.’ Personally I haven’t enjoyed the new, younger, grittier Bond. I’m up for giving ‘Skyfall’ a chance and think Craig deserves a real trilogy.

BEFORE MIDNIGHT!

So it was only a rumor just 2 months ago which we talked about HERE. Ethan Hawke barely mentioned the possibility of a third installment, but now Linklater has announced that a third film will happen.

Did I say happen? I meant the third installment ‘Before Midnight’ is DONE. It’s been filmed and will premiere THIS WEEK at the Toronto Film Festival.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK.

Jim Carrey for Kick-Ass 2: Confirmed

Kick-Ass was one of the most surprising comic-book adaptations of recent years.  I expected very little, but got a violent, funny, action packed origin story in a way that is not annoying.  The film also highlighted Chloe Grace Moretz as a total badass and future babe ( I SAID FUTURE! ), so when they announced the sequel has been greenlit, despite my trepidation with the actual plot, I think it can be cool.  It’s already got a lot going for it in light of bringing all the original cast back, but the signings of resident Black-movie boyfriend Morris Chestnutt, John Leguizamo, and Donald Faison have added credence to my thinking it’s going to be good.

Additionally, in what could be super awesome, or super terrible, Jim Carrey has signed on to play a hero Colonel Stars.  I feel like Jim Carreys best days are behind him, but maybe this could be a reminder of what an awesomely fun guy he used to be before he got all old and weird.
