Batman Trailer & What A Fever Pitch Feels Like

They released a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, and my only question at this point is: Did you really need to?  This movie has sold out like every screening of it’s first night already.  It’s going to do a MONSTER number.  While I don’t think it will beat Avengers, I do think it will capture the weekend crown.  Stop spending money on dropping new trailers.  I don’t even want to see a trailer at this point.

But if you do:

The Man Without Fear Should Terrify Marvel

The Ben Affleck starring ‘Daredevil’ was the first Marvel failure. The first two ‘Blade’ films came out with some success, though few knew its comic origins. ‘X-men’ blew everyone away showing the potential of a comic based film. ‘Spider-man’ destroyed expectations.

After DD was ‘Hulk’, ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘Blade: Trinity’, ‘The Punisher’, and a continued list of disappointments until ‘Iron Man.’ Now they want to try it again.

The Art of The Teaser & How PTA is The Master

Again.

He did it again.  Paul Thomas Anderson’s newest teaser for his new film The Master, has me effectively captivated.  The score as well with it’s repetitive beats gets me further engrossed in the world.  The teaser is 1:31 long, but has me more into it’s world than whole films.

I think this could be PTA’s big Oscar winner.

TV to Film Adaptations & How I Don’t Care

Deadwood, Arrested Development, Friday Night Lights, Party Down, Entourage, and now Breaking Bad.  These television shows all have something in common in that they were all excellent.  Deadwood, Arrested, Party Down, and Friday Night Lights never caught on like they should have however, and ended far earlier as a result.  At least FNL and Entourage got to actually finish, which is nice, and Breaking Bad knew ahead of time what it’s end date would be, so we should get closure.

This begs my question:  Why would anyone want to see a movie of any of these television shows?

Why Am I So Into This?

Saturday morning. I’m in the theater waiting for ‘Rock of Ages’ to start, so obviously I was pissed off. Also considering we were seeing ‘That’s My Boy’ immediately after, I was in the worst of moods.

The Lessons of Shrek

‘Madagascar 3’ is #1 at the box office for a second week in a row. Previews for the forth ‘Ice Age’ are in full force and it is set to premiere next month. The films combined have made over 3x their combined budget. Both of these films owe their successes to the lessons of ‘Shrek’, in different ways.

Cowabunga!

It’s a Fake Movie Friday miracle! Not only did Alex write something on the site we have some glorious news to share with you.

The planned Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie has been KILLED! Paramount is apparently really unhappy with the script. I guess one of them has even the smallest bit of sense.

We’ve said it many times on the site. Instead of trying to shoe horn a preexisting franchise into your film idea, just make a new movie. We’ll all appreciate it.

Fake Movie Friday Submissions: Mi Mortigas Kaj Turmentas

Another big submission this time from the tiny Ashley Carter, giving Tigs a run for his money in the crazy catagory. Enjoy!

This is an indie film. One no one will see it. It was written and directed by linguistics majors for linguistics majors. Also weirdos (myself included, because I would watch THE SHIT out of this movie). Someone’s dad works in Hollywood, as an agent/producer/director or something of the sort, so the film looks much better than it has any right to. It is a nod to the 1966 film Incubus, starring a young (and confusingly handsome) William Shatner.
