Fake Movie Friday: Up on the Sun

This one is a friendship test, just to see who has been paying attention over the last few years.

I call it Up on the Sun:

We open on a static shot of a man alone with his back to the camera, sitting at the sand dune overlooking the ocean, watching the sun set, smoking a joint. It’s a very pretty scene. There is an opening monologue from the man:

“Beautiful isn’t it? The majesty of all that is nature. The infinite expanse of the world. Time fading into eternity and circling around to the beginning. It is a special moment. One that anyone would like to share with someone else. Why am I here alone? We’ll get there.”

The whole thing will probably be narrated.

Behold, Dunetheus!

Dunn, this one is specifically for you. It’s no secret that HR Geiger’s work on Jodorowsky’s failed Dune would eventually lead him to Dan O’Bannon who wrote Alien. The design for both the Xenomorph and Space Jockey were from Geiger’s works. It then makes sense that more of his work would serve as inspiration for Ridley Scott’s latest Prometheus. Only the works in question that inspired structures in Scott’s latest are actually designs that were going to be used for Dune! That’s right, decades later some of the visions of Jodorowsky’s insane, out of this world, I wish this movie had been made more than any other in the history of movies, Dune are coming to frution. Head over to http://badassdigest.com for a much better and well written description and after that check out Cellulord who actually made these amazing still comparrisons: Continue reading

Crashing the Block

What’s this!? Attack the Block director Joe Cornish has been signed on to make Neal Stephenson’s cyber punk epic Snow Crash? FUCKING AWESOME! The book was originally optioned not to long after it’s initial release in 1992 but every attempt at bringing this to the big screen has failed. Demolition Man director Marco Brambilla was at one point attached to direct, but that fell through. If you don’t know Snow Crash I highly recommend picking it up and also checking out this fake trailer based on the book done with legos:

QR Code Overload

Branded is an upcoming film featuring the talents of Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor, Ed Stoppard and Max von Sydow. It seems to be about a dystopian future full of evil corporations and monsters. I think. It’s kinda got a Dark City vibe going for it, which I dig. The trailer and poster released for this film have tons of QR codes attached to them. In the poster found below I can spot 4, the trailer has over a dozen. My phone isn’t picking up on this QR codes, but I’m dying to find out what secrets they hold. Check out http://brandedmovie.com/ for ever more QR code fun Continue reading

Fake Movie Friday: The Quarterback Kid

It’s midnight and another Fake Movie Friday is upon us! I know the suspense has been killing you, which is why we’re starting so early. Enjoy! (Sorry for the length…again)

The Quarterback Kid

Billy, played by Cameron Bright, has just entered his freshman year of high school in a town he just moved to. He has made only one friend, another social outcast Daryl played by Daryl Sabara. His father Chaz, played by Matthew Fox(or if he’s not available Hank Azaria), is an ex pro quarterback and now owns used car dealerships in 3 states. They are opening their new super lot, in Michigan someplace, and Chaz needed to be close to this new location.

Kids Do The Darndest Things

Every year there seems to be at least a few Exorcism/Possession movies. We’ve already had The Devil Inside this year, last year there was The Rite, the year before there was The Last Exorcism (depending on your view point of that movie though it may not fit into this list at all) just to name a couple. I make sure to see these and they are almost always disappointing, though I have come to really enjoy The Last Exorcism. Even from the trailers these movies seem to follow the same formula with the same scenes repeated over a multitude of movies.

Enter Torture Chamber, an upcoming movie from Dante Tomaselli, director of Satan’s Playground, Horror and Desecration. Needless to say, I think he knows a thing or two about Satan and possession. The film stars Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Lynn Lowery (The Crazies), Christie Sanford (Satan’s Playground), and Ron Millkie (Friday the 13th). The trailer for this movie scared the shit out of me. I love the eerie sound mix. The trailer plays out like the wet dreams of the kids from Children of the Corn. The posters for this, released earlier today (and found below), also leave me with such and uneasy feeling that I cannot wait for this fucking film. The Elders Have Arrived

A bunch of behind the scenes stills from the set of Prometheus were just released over on the Prometheus Forums. Most of the photos seem to be of the Engineers getting into costume, along with a couple of still shots from the movie. Oh right and then there is this one shot that shows an Elder, who are believed to have created the Engineers, from what would appear to be an extended intro. I assume this Elder Engineer heads home in that ship that is perpendicular to the ground in the opening. Check it out, and then check out the others:

A Box of Home Movies in the Attic is Never a Good Sign

Sinister is the new horror film from director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still) starring Ethan Hawke (Gattaca, White Fang) as an author who moves his family into a new house, a house with a tortured up past. I’ve been hearing quite a bit of positive feedback about this movie from those lucky enough to have caught it at SXSW and have been anxiously awaiting the trailer. Finally, the wait is over thanks to Arrow in the Head. I won’t lie, I was not enthralled by this trailer. Too much of it seemed cheesy (“I’m gonna write the best book that anyone’s ever read”), and it does that horror movies trailer thing where every time a certain noise plays they will cut to black, like in the Texas Chainsaw reboot and the camera sound, and it seemed like every other haunted house horror movie type.

Then at 2:16 into the trailer I was convinced I need to see it. Continue reading
