Movie Movie Podcast LIVE: The Bourne Legacy

Hey guys, so now that the summer movie season is starting to wind down, and we’ve gotten a number of podcasts under our belt, we’ve decided that it’s time to get everyone else in on the fun.

Next thursday (Aug. 16th) after our monthly show Pig Pile (9:30pm at The Creek and the Cave) we are going to record a live podcast.  We are going to get the audience involved and get your guys’ opinions of the film we review.  With The Bourne Legacy coming out this weekend, we figure this is the biggest and best film that a lot of people are going to see, so it should work perfectly. It also might be terrible, so it’ll be fun to talk about either way.

If you want to not only come to Pig Pile and enjoy all the improv, sketch, and standup that we typically have and then stick around to podcast The Bourne Legacy with us, it will be an awesome time.  Also if you want to come and see The Bourne Legacy with the four of us at MMP, we are going to see it this Sunday morning at 10:15am at the AMC Loews 34th Street in midtown.  Tickets are only $7, so it’s even more worth it.

Come be a part of Movie Movie Podcast history!

Avengers 2 is Happening the Way it Should

Joss Whedon has been signed on to write and direct Avengers 2.  We can now all breathe a bit easier.  Not only will he be shepherding the Avenger franchise, but he’s also being brought along to help flesh out the Marvel TV Universe.  They haven’t done anything with the TV verse yet, so taking Whedon’s already stellar TV past and connections, he will be a lot better at helping bring that world along well.

I am pleased.

I would love it if Marvel took some of their darker characters and retrofitted them for TV, like Punisher and Daredevil (especially with his rights likely reverting back to Disney).

Whedon To Avenge Again!

Big important people at Disney have announced that Joss Whedon is coming back. He will be writing and directing the next Avengers film (which will probably have a subtitle taking cues from the non-Iron Man phase 2 films).

SERIOUSLY ROBOCOP?!?

The casting of this movie continues to confound and impress me at the same time. This is now the 3rd article on this site about the upcoming ‘Robocop’ reboot and how the cast makes it seem like it will be an actual film.

Because Omar will be there. Michael Kenneth Williams is getting set to play Murphy’s (Cop before the Robo) partner. In the original films this was a female role, so you have to imagine the switch to a more hardened male actor means a possible betrayal storyline.

I’m continuously more and more excited about this film. Very excited to see the suit designs.

On The Road Trailer

My favorite part about this trailer is how little they show of Kristen Stewart. It was really dumb casting on their part if they want intelligent people to take this movie seriously. Its an incredibly important book and she’s the kind of person that would make someone dismiss this film solely looking at the poster. Showing a lot of Viggo Mortensen and Terrance Howard is a much better idea.

Fox and Marvel Talk Trades (Updated)

We talked a few months ago about David Slade’s involvement in the ‘Daredevil’ reboot. Well he’s gone. Fox is now talking to Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team) to take over it and do a “Frank Miller-esque, 70s Thriller.

The time is running out for Fox to make a film before the rights revert back to Marvel. They have approached Marvel about an extension and Marvel has proved again that they are smarter than everyone.

Fake Movie Friday: Cereal Killer

This weeks movie I was trying to do something clever, but ended up not. Toucan was supposed to be both the detective and killer but  anyway, without further ado:

Cereal Killer

Toucan Sam get’s a call at 9 in the morning. There’s been a triple homicide. He arrives at the scene to find Snap, Crackle and Pop brutally murdered. The rest of the officers are all humans, and he is just walking around doing his job. He inspects the area but there doesn’t appear to be any evidence left behind.

He heads back to the office to start his write up, and in the middle of him finishing the paper work he receives another call. The Yummy Mummy was found hanging from a lamp-post outside of his condo. Sam heads over and starts to inspect. He finds a Cap’n Crunch whistle on the ground and decides it’s time to visit the Cap.

Fake Movie Friday: Rosie Bloom

So I sat down to write this and the trailer for that dumb looking movie ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’ popped into my head. I said to myself I could crank out a piece of crap magic family movie like that. Turns out I can. I present-

Rosie Bloom

Movie opens on elementary school field. Kids are running around for gym class playing soccer. The ball is kicked over the goal and rolls to a young girl sitting at the edge of the woods. Her name is Poem and she is alone drawing in a notebook. She is new in town and has no friends. The other kids make fun of her, especially over her very stupid name and art fascination.
