Let Me In, You Damn Dirty Apes

Absolutely brilliant article titles twice in one day? I’m on a roll!

‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ was one of the biggest surprises in years. I can’t think of a movie recently that I had less hope for that turned out to be so good. Sadly director Rupert Wyatt walked away from the sequel and I started worrying. But Matt Reeves is here to save the day for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’

Now we have another competent director taking over the script written by the original writing team. I am greatly looking forward to more news of a plot and cast.

Parker is Parker For the First time

Donald Westlake wrote many novels about the character Parker under the psyedonym Richard Stark. Now that I’ve gotten that bit of useless info out of the way, let’s talk about the movie.

But IN SPACE!

Put yourself in Lynne Ramsey’s shoes for a moment. You just finished writing and directing ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin.’ You could probably have your pick of great scripts to direct now, but you decide you want to write something for yourself. What do you do?

Space Moby Dick.

A Good Day To Share A Picture

We have our first OFFICIAL look at the McClane and son from the upcoming ‘A Good Day to Die Hard.’ Yes that is the actual title. Jai Courtney, yes that is his actual name, takes up the role as John Jr. If he is even half as cool as his sister Lucy McClane, this should be fun. He is so far described as a bit more straight laced and strategy focused than his father which should make for some interesting chemistry. John McClane has never made a plan other than

1. Arrive
2. Have shit go down
3. Yipee Ki-yay Mother-fucker.

Fake Movie Friday: The Valley

Movies love it when two people fall in love just because they are different and thrust together. You guys know how love works! Even if it’s two dancers, one street and one classical, if you put them together long enough they will inevitably fall in love. Let’s go further with this. Also let’s copy Katniss because that’s highly profitable.

A Frakking Good Time!

This trailer is pretty great all the way up until the last line. At which point this whole trailer is turned to shit. Directed by Gus Van Sant, co-written by Matt Damon and John Krasinski, based on a story by David Eggers. All this good will goes down the drain with it’s overly cheesy trailer ending verbal emotion punch.

Hopefully Frances McDormand knocks this out of the park like she does with everything. Also there is something about Rosemarie DeWitt I just love.

Fake Movie Friday: Little Sister

I attempted to write about the Panda naming thing I mentioned last night during the live podcast, but nothing strong came out of the thought process. So here’s what I originally thought about writing based on a dream I had early this week.

Little Sister

We open up on a teenage boy named Tyler lying in bed, played by Max Thieriot, reading a letter. We see it’s from a girl dumping him. His mother knocks on the door and says he can’t lie around forever moping. He goes with his mother and father to a church yard sale.
